Policy & Advocacy

RJP Maine has a Legislative Committee made up mostly of volunteers and supported by a staff person; this group researches and proposes restorative justice legislation in Augusta and tracks and supports restorative-minded bills, believing that this is a crucial piece of building a restorative world.

Members of the RJP Maine Legislative Committee also represent the organization at the statewide Maine Restorative Justice Coalition - MERJ - which is made up of other RJ practicing organizations and meets weekly.

Additionally, RJP Maine participates in the Juvenile Restorative Justice Council, a group of diverse stakeholders made up of representatives from new Mainers to District Attorneys, from law enforcement to school superintendents, from victim advocacy organizations to community-based practitioners.  This group meets bi-monthly.

Be a Change Agent!

For the first time, we will be sending out Action Alerts to those who wish to be in the know about bills that need your support by writing and submitting testimony, attending hearings in Augusta, or contacting your local elected officials.
To sign up to receive these special alerts, please complete the form below and we'll make sure that you are on our email list. If you don't sign up, this will be your last legislative alert and no other action is needed.
Help us make long term system and structural change through public policy. Thank you for your support!
