Supporting Community Reentry:
RJP Maine's Open Table Pilot Program
Restorative Justice Project Maine is excited to be bringing the Open Table model of community transformation to Maine, starting in Knox County, as part of an effort to build out re-entry supports for those returning to community life after incarceration. The Open Table model provides an opportunity to draw on the power of social networks and community relationships. It allows participants to walk alongside our community members with complex needs -- while also being personally transformed through the power of reciprocity.
In partnership with Volunteers of America, we are identifying two "Friends," formerly-incarcerated individuals returning to community life in Knox County, and are piloting two tables to support them. RJP is looking for volunteers for these two tables. Community volunteers support a Friend at a table for a year-long program. Reach out to Erica Buswell at erica@rjpmidcoast.org with interest in our current Knox pilot program or to inquire about info sessions or waitlists for future programs. , |
